DICT on the Go… Go for the GOLD!
The Department of Information and Computer Technology spear headed by Dean Mitch E. Cortes, MATCS, together with the selected 4th year students from the department joined the 2017 TESDA Provincial Skills Competition for the first time last August 9-11, 2017 at the TESDA Provincial Office. The competition was participated by different schools in the province to name a few, University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue, Informatics, University of San Jose- Recoletos, Sisters of Mary, Britech College and more. Four representatives of Benedicto College emerged victorious. The winning team is composed of Rey Vincent Palo for Web Design - Silver Medalist, Vincent Villaluna for IT Network System Administration - Gold Medalist, Jamiel Belarmino for Information Network Cabling - Gold Medalist, and Carolino Villarta Jr. for Visual Graphics Design - Gold Medalist and were guided by their coaches namely, Ms. Jennifer S. Povadora, Mitch E. Cortes, MATCS, Mr. Marvin E. Galanza and Maria Sheena M. Venanzuela, LPT, M.Ed., respectively.
Two weeks after the Provincial competition, only the Gold Medalist moved up to the 2017 TESDA Regional Skills Competition that was held last August 29-31, 2017 at the TESDA Regional Office.
Aside from the Cebu Province participants, other representatives where from Bohol, Siquijor, and Negros. Benedicto College DID IT AGAIN! Vincent Villaluna for IT Network System Administration - Gold Medalist Jamiel Belarmino for Information Network Cabling - Gold Medalist, and Carolino Villarta Jr. for Visual Graphics Design - Gold Medalist. The three medalists will be competing for the ZONAL Skills Competition this coming November 2017 to be participated by the winners from Regions 6, 7 and 8.
It was indeed a happy and incredible opportunity for our students from our department to represent and bring honor and pride to the school. KUDOS!
